Today was my first day of Winter Classes for the next 10 days! I'm currently spending 5 hours in lectures and labs Monday-Friday for these next 10 days for a full semester of credit for Astronomy. Now when I first signed up for this class I had very mixed emotions. At first I thought, well at least I will go ahead and get this class out of the way and my load will be lighter for the next few years in school. But then, this morning to be specific, I thought to myself, "What were you thinking?!" This thought came to mind while I was reading all of the tweets and Facebook statuses of all my friends who are now at Passion 2012, a conference for College students around the nation that brings them all together for one cause: Jesus. Needless to say, I would much rather be there.
As much as I would love to be at Passion, I know that what I'm doing here in Oxford is very important and must be done. Besides, there is always Passion 2013 to look forward to! At about 1:00 I finally left my apartment to head on a scantron hunt and then to Astronomy 103. After getting out of lecture, I thought to myself, "That wasn't too bad!" seeing as I was the one who looked at stars a few nights ago for fun and Astronomy is in fact the science of stars! I found it quite interesting, but I definitely won't let that effect my mindset when it comes to studying...it is, after all, only two weeks to learn a semester of material.
And now is where the picture for today comes in. As I'm sitting here in my WARM apartment waiting to head off to my lab I'm thinking about how cold it is going to be because the lab is OUTSIDE!! As you can see in the picture, the temperature is a bit cold for this Mississippi girl! I'm not excited about being so cold for over an hour, but I have to keep reminding myself, it could be so much worse...it could be snowing. (Hopefully the snow will hold off for 2 more weeks!)Thankfully it seems to get a little bit warmer towards the end of the week!
